These 5 songs all come from one of their EPs, and if you like what you hear, then I’d highly recommend checking out the rest. “Leave Me” is a fast-paced, upbeat, and relatable song for almost anyone. “Look How Far We’ve Come” is a more toned down song, but it is still a great listen. It has a catchy chorus and an equally catchy (funky?) guitar chorus. “Tokyo” is one of those songs that puts me in a good mood no matter what. My favorite EP they’ve released, “It’s Time”, debuted their songs It’s Time and Amsterdam, but it also contained some of my lesser-known favorites. The band took many of the songs from their extended plays and put them on Night Visions, but it’s hard to believe some of the songs didn’t make the cut. While they’ve only released one album, Imagine Dragons released multiple EPs from 2010-2012, and some of my favorite songs come off of them.

“Selene” and “Hear Me” are also personal favorites from Night Visions. It is another powerful song with strong lyrics that has the potential to climb the charts. “Bleeding Out” is another song from the album that I think deserves more attention. In my opinion, it has the potential to be a chart topper. “Amsterdam” has a great, hopeful message and a powerful chorus to go along with a catchy tune. Imagine Dragons could easily have fallen victim to the same pattern, but the rest of the album is just as good as the hits. I’ve noticed that bands with hit singles tend to put out mediocre albums, relying on the popularity of one song to sell the whole thing. Their most recent hit song, “On Top of the World”, is uniquely upbeat and great to listen to in almost any situation. “It’s Time”, their first single and the one that launched them onto the charts has received moderate attention too, and if you haven’t heard it, it’s well worth a listen.

(If you haven’t seen the music video and want to be thoroughly confused, go watch it.) “Demons”, another of their hit singles, is arguably my favorite song. You’ve probably all heard “Radioactive”, their single that topped the charts and remained in the Billboard Top 10 Alternative Rock songs for over a year. It’s rare to find an album without a song I dislike, but Night Visions is the exception. It is their only full-length album to date, but I have never enjoyed listening to any other album more. After releasing 3 EPs, they released their first studio album “ Night Visions” on September 4, 2012. Imagine Dragons was founded in 2008 in Utah, but moved to Las Vegas, the hometown of lead singer Dan Reynolds. But after listening to Imagine Dragons for a year or two, I can safely say they are my favorite band. I could always narrow it down to 3 or 4, but I’ve always been too indecisive to get it down to just 1. I’ve always had a tough time telling people exactly who my favorite band is. I felt that it would be appropriate to write my first blog about my favorite band.

If there’s another genre you want to hear about (other than country – sorry country fans), then feel free to leave a comment! In the coming weeks, I’ll talk about mainly alternative rock bands, with possibly a little pop and rap thrown in. In this blog, I’ll talk about some of my favorite artists and bands, old and new, and hopefully you’ll discover a band you like. I’ve found myself listening to music a lot more at college, and I’ve been enjoying it more as well. I really enjoyed writing about conversations I overheard on campus last semester, but it’s a new year and with it comes a new blog. Well, another semester is here, and that means I’m back and blogging.
